Sean Savage has been wrangling our PBCore records and we’re looking ahead to adopting the PBCore schema more comprehensively for Northeast Historic Film’s moving image collections. We will need to make decisions about many things: which elements beyond the mandatory set, for example, and how to survive the conversion. We are talking to Seth Kaufman of OpenCollection (I visited him in Greenport, NY, not long ago) about a Web-based database system.
June 25 Seth joined me for a conference call with PBCore project manager Marcia Brooks and chief technologist Dave MacCarn (both at WGBH) to talk about our interest in developing an OpenCollection - PBCore implementation. PBCore is between funding infusions, waiting for news from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
